Located at Sasaran beach, Kuala Selangor in Malaysia, the Sky Mirror is an elusive natural wonder reminiscent of its more famous counterpart, the Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia. Only observable twice a month, the Sky Mirror is an exceptional experience for any tourist. The shallow waters of the mysterious island reflect the sky, creating a magical mirror-like effect. At the Sky Mirror, you can capture stunning pictures while being surrounded by fascinating marine life scattered along the shore.

Take in the sights with your loved ones on the beautiful sandbar, and marvel at the reflection of the clear blue Malaysian skies. Catch a glimpse of marine life, including baby clams that sparkle like diamonds during the day, colourful seashells dotting the shore, as well as snails and crabs. With beauty matching up to the Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia, Malaysia’s Sky Mirror is an accessible option for those who reside in Asia.

To avoid disappointment, visitors hoping to experience the Sky Mirror in its full glory should ensure that they visit the location at the correct time. The remarkable phenomenon occurs on the 1st and 15th of every lunar month, corresponding with the new moon and full moon. On these days, the sea levels are low enough to reveal the sandbar. Head there early to avoid the crowds and allocate sufficient time to take your fill of photos. A variety of photo opportunities await, from the beautiful, dreamy scenic shots, to the creative, whacky shots you can get with the reflection. For the best images, dress in your brightest and most colourful apparel!

A trip to the Sky Mirror doesn’t have to stop there. Explore the other wonders that Kuala Selangor has to offer while you are there. Experience the vast expanse of the paddy fields, and gain an appreciation of where the rice we eat comes from. A boat ride along the Selangor River provides guests with a spectacular view of eagles hunting in their habitat. Near the river, you can also witness the magical sight of fireflies dotting the trees of the mangrove forest.

Going to Kuala Selangor is a brilliant opportunity for spending time with family and friends. Yet, you don’t have to deal with the hassle of planning for a group.
